Some people teared-up. Some laughed. We all applauded as our members read their outstanding work at the May 11 meeting’s end of season celebration. Much to the delight of the audience, a couple of members successfully tried out the performance reading/reciting techniques taught by Jerri Hardesty, our April speaker.
The new executive officers were installed for their two-year term and will be busy this summer organizing the 2017-18 season that starts September 9. These dedicated people are John Woods, President; John (Doc) Stump, VP; Mavis Jarrell, Treasurer; and Becky Brunson, Secretary.
As the saying goes, “It takes a village” to fulfill the purpose of a group as old and respected as The Pensters. John Woods’ positive and exciting statements indicated that he wants to do more to not only benefit other writers but the community. He wants to see us grow which allows us to do more for our members. All members can help accomplish this even in the smallest ways like: spread the word about our group, email John at about upcoming book events where we might set up a table or publish it on Facebook, or invite a guest to the free meetings that start again in September.
